History of Public relations

Yesterday, in my Public Relations class we broke into groups of four of five people. In these groups we each were given a specific time period to focus on. From this, we decided what the most important facts were from that time- period.  Towards the end of class we as a class discussed the important facts and I took notes on these. The following list is some of the things we as a class came up with that we felt were important in Public Relations history.

(These notes are fomr our book Public Relations: Strategies and Tactics)

  • PR played an active role in the Boston Tea Party
  • American railroads used PR to lure tourists to the east
  • Women became a dominant part in PR
  • PR focused more on interpersonal relationships
  • PR always has to update its self because it’s always changing
